Airbus Development and BizLab Hamburg initiated their collaboration Thursday (June 27, 2019) to boost innovative projects in Germany. Airbus Development targets local economic growth by supporting talented and ambitious start-ups that create wealth and jobs. Airbus BizLab is a global aerospace accelerator, where start-ups and Airbus intrapreneurs speed up the transformation of innovative ideas into valuable businesses.
Real-time assistance and 3D-Data guided robot applications
The selected teams pitched to a jury, which rewarded the very promising start-ups with a total of EUR 50,000. Boni Loud Steps from Turkey won EUR 30,000, followed by Flugilo from Hamburg with EUR 15,000 and Dino Robotics closed with EUR 5,000. Besides Airbus BizLab and Airbus Development, the jury consisted of business stakeholders as well as Marco Wagner, HO HR Airbus Commercial Aircraft Germany, and Veronika Reichboth, Director Startup Unit at Hamburg Invest. Apart from the funding, the start-ups will receive continuous support from Airbus Development.
LoudSteps is a mobile application developed to assist blind and visually impaired passengers from home-to-gate-to-seat. A complete real-time assistance aid activated by voice commands encourages passenger independence and confidence and enriches the travel experience.
The Flugilo start-up is developing a portable sensor system to reduce production disruption while moving an aircraft or major component. In addition to increased safety, the system will help lower costs and resource optimization.
Dino Robotics specializes in 3D data guided robot applications for adaptive robotic automation tasks and is developing a single flexible robot system in multiple use cases.
Global Aerospace Accelerator
Airbus BizLab is a global aerospace accelerator, where start-ups and Airbus intrapreneurs speed up the transformation of innovative ideas into valuable businesses. The programme collaborates closely with start-ups to allow smaller organizations to better understand needs and ways of working with large groups. Over the past four years, Airbus BizLab has hosted 72 start-ups and 54 Airbus internal projects in a six-month programme in Toulouse, France, Bangalore, India, Madrid, Spain and in Hamburg creating a global network of business accelerators.
