Adria Airways will operate the first direct flight from Hamburg Airport to Ljubljana from March 25, 2017 marking a brand new destination, a press release said Wednesday (November 29, 2017). Adria Airways is the latest airline to operate from the airport. Dr. Joergen Kearsley, Head of Aviation Marketing at Hamburg Airport, noted: “Ljubljana is yet another attractive addition to our network in southern Europe.”
Ljubljana – cultural and economic heart of Slovenia
Ljubljana is the capital and largest city of Slovenia and has a population of 300,000. The city was so far one of the few capitals in the EU without a direct flight to Hamburg. The connection is attractive to both business and leisure travellers going on city trips and holidays. Thus we welcome the commitment of Adria Airways and welcome the airline as a new partner,” said Kearsley.
Ljubljana is an ideal starting point for touring Slovenia, which lies between the Alps and the Mediterranean Sea and has diverse landscapes such as the unusual Karst landscape with over 11,000 caves. The Pannonia Plain and many traditional water sources make the region ideal for nature lovers. Last year, Ljubljana was named “Europe’s Green Capital 2016”.
