A business delegation headed by the Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, Lilianne Ploumen, will be accompanying the royal couple during their two-day working visit. On the agenda in Hamburg are talks and visits linked to Hamburg’s creative industries, maritime economy and renewable energy. Guest Speaker At Hamburg’s Energy Conference
The Dutch royal couple and its delegation will be welcomed by Hamburg’s First Mayor Olaf Scholz at city hall on March 19, 2015. Then, the royals will attend the closing ceremony of the trilateral conference: “Offshore Wind in the Netherlands, Germany and Denmark, a contribution to the European Energy Transition” in the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce. On its panel, German, Dutch and Danish experts will talk about the contribution of the three countries towards the energy revolution in Europe. The three speeches on the agenda will be held by His Majesty King Willem-Alexander, Hamburg’s First Mayor Olaf Scholz, and the former President of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Karl-Joachim Dreyer. Aftwerwards, the royal couple will be asked to sign the guestbook of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce.
Maritime Economy: High Hopes For LNG
On March 20, 2015, His Majesty King Willem-Alexander and Her Majesty Queen Máxima will take part in the “LNG full speed ahead” event at Hamburg’s historic fish auction hall, with German and Dutch companies in the maritime industry talking about the use of LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas / LNG) in the maritime industry. LNG is considered as an environmentally friendly fuel that helps to reduce emissions in shipping. Speeches will be held by the Dutch Minister of Foreign Trade, Lilianne Ploumen, the Parliamentary Secretary of State at the Federal Ministry of Economy and Energy, Uwe Meyer Beck, and Frank Horch, Hamburg Minister of Economy, Transport and Innovation. After a port tour on an LNG-powered barge, the royal couple will be visiting the Joop van den Ende Academy to gain insights in innovative theatre production and stage technology, before enjoying a show by Stage Entertainment Also on the agenda on the royal visit to Hamburg ist an interactive workshop with German and Dutch experts about “intelligent urban mobility”.

At the end of the visit, Hamburg’s Mayor Olaf Scholz will be hosting a Senate breakfast in honour of the royal couple. Last but not least, His Majesty King Willem-Alexander and Her Majesty Queen Maxima will be invited to sign the Golden Book of the Free and Hanseatic City before leaving Hamburg.
