The private railway company Hamburg-Köln-Express (HKX) is heading further south. With the winter time table becoming effective on 13 December 2015, the rail operators will expand its route network and continue today’s service from Hamburg to Cologne further on via Bonn and Koblenz and the left side of the Rhine Valley up to Frankfurt’s main station – and back, of course. At the most requested traffic days from Thursday to Sunday, each train will be servicing the extension through the Rhine Valley in the starting phase.
New Service, New Subcontractor
With the timetable change in December 2015, the railway company will not only extends its route to Frankfurt / Main, but also introduce the BTE Bahn Touristik Express GmbH as new carrier, taking over all operational tasks and the trains for HKX as a new partner.
The Nuremberg-based company is the comfortable, classic passenger cars, which have been used on HKX routes since September. HKX has rented ten cars plus a reserve car along with a baggage car with comfortable compartments and space for wheelchair and bicycle transport. In the spring, the extension of the route network will take the second big leap.
Hamburg Strengthened: Staff Wanted
For the expansion of its service fin spring 2016, HKX plans to recruit more staff and particularly strengthen its Hamburg base.
