The Hamburg retailers are optimistic about the upcoming holiday season. This is the result of a recent online survey by the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce, in which 315 Hamburg-based dealers participated. “The mood is much better than last year. The consumers in Hamburg are in a much higher mood to spend money on shopping,” commented Prof Hans-Jörg Schmidt-Trenz, CEO Hamburg Chamber of Commerce, the results.
Particularly Optimistic: Online Traders
Around one third of dealers in Hamburg expects better sales than last year, and more than half expect at least consistent sales. Only 23 per cent of respondents expect poorer yields than in 2013. The outlook is even more positive in Hamburg’s e-commerce sector. Here, 42 per cent of respondents expect better sales. Another 42 per cent expect unchanged revenues. Only 16 per cent of online retailers expect a sales worsening compared to the previous year.
The Hamburg Chamber of Commerce conducts an online survey on the expectations of Hamburg’s retails for the Christmas season every seven years.
