At EXPO REAL 2015, the largest European trade fair for commercial property and investment, the international real estate industry will be present in Munich from 5-7 October. This year, Hamburg’s presentation will focus on the city’s huge urban development project, which have been launched to adjust the city state’s urban infrastructure for the growing population.
Hamburg Minister Stapelfeldt: “Hamburg Is The Capital of Urban Development”
Dorothee Stapelfeldt, Hamburg Minister of Urban Development: “With numbers of inhabitants constantly rising, also housing, social and transport infrastructure, and job offers will have to grow. Hamburg responded to these needs and has been actively promoting the construction of new residential units, with 7,000 new homes completed last year. One-third of these residences were publicly funded, thus offering favourable rates. Numerous large urban development projects help to meet these challenges: the development of Hamburg’s east, Mitte Altona, HafenCity, and, last but not least, Hamburg’s bid to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2024 are just some of them. Hamburg is the capital of urban development.”
Population to Grow also in Future
Cities are booming around the world. Especially younger people are attracted to cities in the search of good training places and jobs. This fact also applies to Hamburg. Over the past two years, the Hanseatic city enjoyed a growth in population by approx. 27,000 inhabitants. Also in the medium term, Hamburg will continue to expect a substantial rise in population, a development also influenced by the large number of refugees expected to stay with us permanently. This development brings along major challenges for urban development. Showcasing Hamburg’s assets and projects at EXPO REAL is thus more vital than ever. Dr. Rolf Strittmatter, managing director HWF Hamburg Business Development Corporation: “For us as Hamburg’s business developers, the real estate industry is not only an important partner in regard to the provision of commercial and industry, but also when it comes to acquiring new companies.”
Exploiting Construction Potential, Preserving Open Spaces
To exploit Hamburg’s inner city construction potential while preserving open spaces in their high quality are the key objectives of Hamburg’s urban development policy. At EXPO REAL, Hamburg’s municipal partners HafenCity Hamburg GmbH, Landesbetrieb Immobilienmanagement und Grundvermögen (Hamburg’s state-owned property management company), IBA Hamburg, HWF Hamburg Business Development Corporation, and the Hamburg Ministry for Urban Development and Housing will thus be looking forward to talk to old and new partners.
57 Exhibitors and Logo Partners
Hamburg will participate at EXPO REAL with 640 square metres large stand at its accustomed location in hall B2. In total, 57 companies and institutions will be sharing Hamburg’s joint stand, reflecting the entire value chain of Hamburg’s real estate industry. New stand partners include Maßmann & Co.
