Dr. Rolf Strittmatter, Managing Director of the HWF Hamburg Business Development Corporation, has been appointed spokesman of the Business Development Corporation of the Hamburg Metropolitan Region and will take over from Dr. Olaf Krüger, Managing Director of Süderelbe AG, whose term of office has ended, HWF announced Monday (January 23, 2017).
Pioneer in development of intelligent energy systems
Strittmatter noted: “For years, business developers in the metropolitan region have worked intensely together on projects in the interests of firms to which we cater. We have been more active in marketing the location recently and will continue to do so this year. The profile of the Hamburg Metropolitan Region as a centre of innovation is still too low on both national and international levels.” Business promoters have invited political figures, representatives of associations and commerce to the Representation of the State of Hamburg in Berlin on February 16 to discuss ways of heightening the region’s profile.
Frank Horch, Senator for Economics, Harry Glawe, Minister for Economics, Labour and Health in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania, Stefan Wenzel, Minister for the Environment, Energy and Climate Protection in Lower Saxony and Kurt-Christoph von Knobelsdorff, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Employment, Transport and Technology in Schleswig-Holstein, will present north Germany as a pioneer in the development of intelligent energy systems to the meeting in Berlin.
Cluster management and marketing the location
The Business Development Corporation comprises one representative each of business development institutions in districts of the Hamburg Metropolitan Region, the cities of Lübeck, Neumünster, Norderstedt and Schwerin and a representative of Lower Saxony’s Ministry for Economics, the Wirtschaftsförderung und Technologietransfer Schleswig-Holstein GmbH (WTSH), HWF and the Süderelbe AG respectively. Founded in September 2006, the corporation co-ordinates business promotion activities especially cluster management and marketing the metropolitan region. A member of business development corporations in Hamburg, Mecklenburg-West Pomerania, Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein is appointed rotating speaker.
