The total number of services provided by the Chamber of Commerce in 2016 has remained almost on 2015 levels. Fritz Horst Melsheimer, CEO of the Chamber of Commerce, commented Tuesday (January 24), “Our tentative balance sheet shows me that our offer of services is right for members.” He expressed particular satisfaction with the rise in requests from 6,410 to 7,724 for information about creating businessess. Melsheimer said: “The Chamber of Commerce has made a great contribution to business creation and solidified Hamburg’s reputation as a bastion of start-ups.” Visitor numbers to the Chamber of Commerce’s service centre rose from 48,291 to 50,356 in 2016.
The number of new, registered apprenticeships came to 8,776 in 2016 down from 8,967 in 2015. The chamber also organised five “Marketplace Meetings” in 2016, which brought around 5,000 refugee jobseekers and 227 interested firms together.
More figures for 2016:
• The Chamber of Commerce issued 63,808 certificates of origin and other documents for foreign trade in 2016 down from 63,994 in 2015.
• Some 350 information events on corporate issues down from 377 in 2015 were held.
•The Innovation and Patent Centre gave 4,494 disclosures on commercial property rights down from 5,037 in 2015.
• Last year, the Chamber of Commerce organised 97 local events attended by 6,800 representatives of member companies – an increase of 30 per cent over 2015.
• Some 30,000 delegates at events received responses to queries about self-employment.
