Three Hamburg restaurants have garnered the top three places in Yelp’s Top 100 restaurants and cafés in Germany. The ranking is based on ratings entered by users of the online portals since it was launched in Germany in 2010. The list takes account of old favourites and newcomers. Yelps says it currently has an average 86 million unique vistors per month. By late 2015, members of the portal had drawn up over 95 million ratings.
Four Top 10 candidates
The L’Orient restaurant offering Lebanese cusine in Eimsbüttel came first followed by the French Ti Breizh restaurant in the historic Deichstrasse. The Portuguese restaurant Casa Franco in Neustadt came third while an Indian restaurant named Ashoka in St. Pauli placed seventh. A total of 41 Hamburg-based restaurants made it onto Yelp’s Top 100 list.
Restaurants are ranked on Yelp with commentaries and stars from 1 to 5. Only people residing in Germany are taken into consideration in order to get a country-specific rating. If a restaurant with various branches has multiple entries, only the highest-ranking entry is considered while the others are mentioned in an annotation. Yelp’s ranking is drawn up for restaurants in the U.S., Canada, Britain, Italy, Spain and Australia. The results for the U.S. and Canada can be found on www.yelpblog.com/page/1
