Hamburg Tourism Continues To Grow

The Office of Statistics North reports an increase of visitors by 5.7 per cent in February 2015

In February 2015, 17,000 tourists travelled to Hamburg. Compared to February 2014, visitor figures thus increased by by 5.7 per cent. At the same time, Office of Statistics Nord recorded 789,000 overnight stays of tourists in Hamburg, with figures up by ten per cent compared to last year. Included in the survey were 341 accommodation facilities with a total of 56,183 beds. The occupancy rate was around 50 per cent.

Visitors From Neighbouring Countries

The domestic market still accounts for most of the visitors. Its share grew by 11.1 per cent to 617,000 nights. Overnight stays by international visitors increased by 5.9 per cent to 172,000 nights. In total, international guests today account for nearly one-fifth of all tourists (19.6 per cent), with Denmark, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Austria and Switzerland being the top five source markets,

In the first two months of 2015, i.e. January and February, a 9.2 per cent growth in overnight stays was recorded as 2014, with guest figures up by 5.7 per cent. According to the Office of Statistics North, the average period of stay was 1.9 days.
