The port of Hamburg is set to host even more spectacular cruise ship events this summer following the anniversary celebrations in early May. The launch of TUI Cruises Mein Schiff 6 Thursday against the magnificent backdrop of the Elbphilharmonie is the latest spectacle. The ship’s sponsor is Iveta Apkalna, organist at the Elbphilharmonie. The Latvian artist performs as a soloist in world famous concert halls and at music festivals across the globe.
Launch to be streamed live on Facebook
The TUI Cruises web site will set up a hyperlink to a live stream of the launching ceremony on Facebook from around 10 pm. The ceremony and the traditional smashing of champagne bottles will be followed by a huge fireworks display at around 10.45 pm. Surfers are advised to go online early.
