In the first five months of this year, Hamburg recorded 3.7 per cent more overnight stays than in the same period last year in Hamburg. Total visitor figures increased by 2.7 per cent guests. Their average length of stay were 1.9 days.
More guests in May
In May, Hamburg’s hospitality industry reported more guests, but less nights than in the same month of last year. The number of overnight stays fell by 0.4 per cent to 1.129 million nights. The number of guests increased by 2.7 per cent to 561,000 people, thus the Office of Stastics North. Included in the survey were 344 hotels and other accommodation options, offering a total of 54, 237 beds. The average bed occupancy was 66.3 per cent.
More guests from abroad
Overnight stays from German guest declined by 3.1 per cent to 872,000 nights. International arrivals, however, increased by 9.7 per cent to 257,000 nights. 21 per cent of visitors came from abroad, with the majority of them arriving from Denmark, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Austria, and the United States.
