The city of Hamburg, the Hamburg Port Authority and organisers of the MS Dockville Festival have secured the use of Reiherstiegknie in Wilhelmsburg as the venue until 2022, a press release said Wednesday (August 30, 2017). The festival has been a fixed part of Hamburg’s culture scene for ten years.
Rising visiting numbers
Launched in 2007, visitor numbers have risen from 5,000 to 60,000 this year. Many bands and DJs perform and diverse art projects are exhibited during the festival. Commenting on its potential for Hamburg, organisers Kopf & Steine said: “We are delighted to have secured a first five-year plan after eleven great years. The musical direction, the artistic setting and not least the unique place have made MS Dockville a key international festival.” The organisers and the city of Hamburg will be going to even greater efforts to build on this achievement in future.
