while the hot phase of negotiations has started at the global climate summit in Paris, Hamburg has acted and increased its efforts to protect the climate. The new climate plan of the Senate provides for further measures to reduce CO2 emissions and sets a new goal: By 2030, the city aims to halve CO2 emissions compared to 1990’s levels. For the first time, Hamburg’s new climate strategy also includes measures to adapt to climate change. These measures comprise, inter alia, the expansion of public transport, the promotion of e-mobility and cycling, and the improvement of energy efficiency of schools and other municipal buildings.
