Next Monday, 13 October 2014, the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce will start the App contest “Your App for Hamburg”. Until December 19, talented developers, start-ups and established companies are invited to submit their ideas or solutions for apps on the competition pages.
Hamburg – a stronghold of mobile applications
“App developments have a great economic potential. The EU expects employment in this sector to quadruple in the next four years to just under five million people”, says Hans-Jörg Schmidt-Trenz, general director of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce. The goal is to make Hamburg the stronghold of mobile applications and thus contributing to higher employment target.
Also ideas for apps can be submitted
All entries to the competition must have both local, i.e. Hamburg-related, and economic relevance. This can be ensured, for example, by using records of urban open-data portal. Those not able to develop appscan also apply with ideas for apps. Total prize money amounts to more than 28,000 euro.
The best entries will be selected by a jury of experts. Patron of the competition is Hamburg’s First Mayor Olaf Scholz. The contest is support by Hamburg’s IT industry.
