The Technical University Hamburg-Harburg (TUHH) ranks among the world’s top 500 universities, according to Times Higher Education (THE) University Rankings published on Tuesday (September 5, 2017). Commerce and science are promoting innovations and conduct joint research projects that benefit diverse industries and students at TUHH. Universities also raise third-party funds for research projects from companies, foundations and the German Research Foundation (DFG). TUHH soared to the top 100 institutions in this category while Britain’s Oxford University led the rankings.
Above average third-party funding
A total of 44 universities in Germany count among the very best and include prestigious old institutions alongside younger technical universities. TUHH ranked above average in five categories. Frank Horch, Senators for Economics, Transport and Innovation congratulated the university, saying: “Hamburg is a recognized centre of technology where the word ‘knowledge transfer’ no longer has to be spelt out. The senate’s economic and innovation policies are striving to create a climate that fosters application-orientated developments. Commerce and science work well together in Hamburg and are developing innovations for the future together. TUHH is an outstanding example of this development.” pb
