SXSW - Hamburg To Expand Programme And Participation

50,000 trade visitors anticipated. Hamburg to showcase promising start-ups in Austin. Programme extended to four days

Hamburg’s activities at last year’s South by Southwest (SXSW) bear fruit. The Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, Reeperbahn Festival, and the Hamburg Music Business Association (IHM) will expand their participation at the global lead fair of creative industries by another day to four days.

Hamburg To Participate With More Than 50 Companies

From 13-22 March 2015, Austin, the capital of Texas, will once again be the global hotspot and meeting place for the world’s creative industries, with more than 50,000 trade visitors from music, film, and interactive discussing and setting trends, making new international contacts, and initiating business and cultural co-operations. As in previous years, Hamburg will attend the industry meeting with a large delegation, this year comprising more than 50 participants.

Hamburg Is The Number One Pitcher From Europe

Interactive will be particularly in the focus this year, with Hamburg leading the pitches from Europe as the only one to have successfully nominated four promising start-ups in the official SXSW programme. And also the only German start-up in the official SXSW Accelerator, Tinnitracks. The young Hamburg company successfully competed against 500 global applicants and will now have to pitch against 48 rivals in front of international investors.

Four Hamburg Start-Ups To Pitch

Jörg Land, co-founder and managing director of Tinnitracks, said: “We explicitly like to thank Hamburg. The early and ongoing support by Hamburg startups, IHM, Reeperbahn Festival, and the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg laid the foundation for our nomination as the only German startup in the finals of SXSW in Austin.” As part of the German Startup Engine, Hamburg will be sending three start-ups to pitch at the official SXSW Startup Village. These companies are minubo, knowhere.to, and Trip Rebel.
