The Cultural Authority is set to present ten scholarships in fine arts for the 37th time since 1981. The annual scholarships go to artists whose main residence is in Hamburg and who have already completed their studies. The scholarship consists of EUR 820 per month and is awarded for one year. A closing presentation is held at the end of the scholarship year and a catalogue is published.
Ten scholarships for young, talented artists
The scholarships are among the most sustainable funding measures for young artists in Hamburg and have paved the way for around 360 artists so far. Many former recipients have often gone on to make a name for themselves supra-regionally and internationally. They include, for instance, Stephan Balkenhol, Andreas Slominski, Mariella Mosler, Jeanne Faust, Christoph Schäfer, Thorsten Brinkmann, Aurelia Mihai and Boran Burchardt.
