The internationalisation of Hamburg goes ahead amid world press responses to the opening of the Elphilharmonie. A new international web page www.hamburg.com is part of a digital strategy targeting international users. Michael Otremba, Managing Director of Hamburg Marketing GmbH, explained: “We aim to position Hamburg in the world’s focus and to make it visible for both international guests and companies. We have now created a convincing basis with this new English-language web site.”
Jan-Niko Lafrentz, Managing Director of hamburg.de, noted: “The English-language pages of hamburg.de move to hamburg.com. For some time now, we have noted increasing access figures by English-language users. In that respect, the joint development of hamburg.com was the logical consequence. The concentrated, English-language offer on hamburg.com is attractive. We have created a contemporary hub which international and tourists and firms can navigate quickly and are led to the relevant content about the city.“
Modern, flat design
The existing web pages of urban partners such as Hamburg Tourismus GmbH have been pooled on Hamburg.com and are easier to find. International users are given an overview quickly and are then led to other relevant pages and services. The existing web pages are still available and independent. A modern, flat design to match the season and with different pictures of Hamburg give authentic impressions of the city.
Hamburg Marketing and hamburg.de are responsible for the concept and the international Hamburg portal on behalf of the Hamburg State Ministry of Economy, Transport and Innovation.
