The mytaxi service allowing passengers to share tours and costs is now available in Hamburg initially after a successful start in Warsaw. The service will be available in other German cities later. The mytaxi app promises users a safe service and up to 50 per cent in savings. Johannes Mewes, mytaxi CPO, said: “We are continuing on our innovative path with mytaximatch and are offering our customers a product with real added value as in previous releases.”
From Warsaw to Hamburg
The mytaxi service has been available in Warsaw since mid September and marked the first extensive test of the service in Europe. Passengers there are enthusiastic. Now users in Hamburg can match taxi rides at the press of a button. If another passenger is not found to share a tour, passengers still get a discount of up to 50 per cent provided payment has occurred per app.
“The idea of mytaximatch has met with great urban interest and we are fully supported. The offer goes perfectly with the latest transport concepts in Hamburg and offers huge potential for our sector to solidify its place in the digital sharing economy. All passengers enjoy an affordable service in the usual mytaxi premium quality,” said Alexander Mönch, General Manager Germany and Austria at mytaxi.
Saving money and the environment
The easy to use mytaxi app requires users to enter their destination and address to match a tour before travelling. The app then links up two passengers travelling in the same direction. Although short detours can be expected, users of the mytaximatch can expect 30 to 50 per cent in savings, which in turn reduces pollution and inner-city traffic. This innovative approach won over authorities in the City of Hamburg. Most users want to save money and do something for the environment, a survey conducted in 2016 by Interrogare GmbH for mytaxi found. Most passengers expect savings of 30 to 40 per cent.
