More Low-Cost Workspace For Creative Minds

Former premises of HafenCity University to be revitalised as pop-up studios for artists and other creative minds

In February 2015, the Hamburg Kreativgesellschaft will start to offer new premises for artists in the Uhlenhorst neighbourhood on the eastern banks of the Outer Alster lake. On the grounds of the former HafenCity University (HCU) at Averhoffstraße, two floors of the old mensa with approximately 400 square metres of GFA, complemented by further 150 square metres of GFA in HCU’s former guesthouse will be available for rent to professionals of the creative industries for one month.

Pop-Up Studios High In Demand

To offer low rent pop-up studios, the Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft will leases the premises from Sprinkenhof GmbH. These short-term rentals were highly popular by artists, designers, photographers, and other players or the creative industries who are constantly searching for such premises to host presentations or exhibitions or to use them as showrooms for new collections or works.

Favourable Conditions

To allow the Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft to offer low-cost leases to artist, the Hamburg Ministry of Culture supports the projects by financing the interim use with state funds. Thus, rents will be as low as 200 euro for the guesthouse, and 300 euro for one level of the former mensa. To apply, please contact Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft and register for a visit of premises hosted for all applicants already in the current month.
