The “Discover Hamburg in 360°” platform has won a special prize for innovation at Europe’s Best of Content Marketing (BCM) awards presented Friday (June 29, 2017) in Berlin. The entry triumphed over other nominees including Daimler AG and TUI AG. “The webpage” rundum.hamburg/en/ presents breathtaking panoramas, secret hotspots and surprising angles of the city. Web surfers navigate the images of Hamburg using a smartphone or mouse. “The concept’s mix of text, images, social media content and the exciting 360° video is outstanding,” the jury said.
Digital experience of innovative Hamburg
At the heart of the platform is a map showing images of locations, which can be embedded in partner websites. Visitors can watch 360° videos and select the perspective themselves and glimpse photographs. “This award is wonderful confirmation of our work,” said Dr. Rolf Strittmatter, Chairman of the Managing Board of Hamburg Marketing GmbH. “’rundum.hamburg’ presents Hamburg and the Metropolitan Region directly and emotionally and leads other urban platforms. The use of virtual reality in urban marketing sends a visible sign for Hamburg as a place of innovation.”
Second success for Hamburg Marketing GmbH at BCM
The win is the second for Hamburg Marketing GmbH at the BCM contest. In 2015, the magazine “Hamburg: das Magazin aus der Metropole” was honoured as one of the six best corporate publishing magazines. A total of 736 international media companies, media systems, campaigns and individual media entries were submitted for this year’s BCM contest, which is hosted by the Content Marketing Forum association. The award is Europe’s biggest in content marketing.
