More than 2,100 business start-ups were created last year by Hamburg’s creative industries. Almost 900 of them were founded by the IT sector, This was revealed by the Hamburg Chamber of commerces. To allow orientation and make the local start-up scene more transparent, a central database of new start-ups, recording all founding activities, is currently being developed.
Promoting the networking of start-ups
Innovative online games, helpful app, digital market places – clever and original business ideas abound in Hamburg. To provide an overview and better orientation, Sina Gritzuhn, Sanja Stankovic and Tim Jaudszims founded HHS Net UG Hamburg Hamburg three months ago as a central platform and database for start-ups and other founders, which allows to represent business ideas and activities, and stimulates networking. To achieves this, they rely on three features: start-up events, a start-up monitor and an editorial team, which reports regularly on the local community of Hamburg founders. “We are currently developing a database that contains data on all Hamburg start-ups, with each start-up represented by an online profile. The founders are also regularly consulted on growth ratios as part of our monitor,” says Sanja Stankovic. Plans are to carry out the first comprehensive survey by end of this year in order to publish a first report in 2015.
Events for start-ups and investors
Next to activities launched by the new platform, the most important even of the thriving scene remains the Startups@Reeperbahn Pitch during the Reeperbahn Festival in autumn. In 2013, the contest stimulated the formation of several new start-ups. Having brought together five national start-ups with international investors last year, this year’s edition will now allow teams from al over Europe to find capital for their project on 18 September 2014 (info and registration: www.hamburg-startups.net)
