300 founders, investors and speakers from Silicon Valley
nextMedia.Hamburg and the German-Finnish Chamber of Commerce (GTAI), Berlin Partner and Invest in Bavaria are organising an event in Helsinki to shine the spotlight on the German start-up scene and have invited investors, entrepreneurs and founders. Three German start-ups including Connected Health in Hamburg, the Berlin-based start-up blogfoster and a team from Munich will pitch their companies.
The Slush conference is dedicated to tech start-ups and has morphed into a popular matchmaking event with more and more participants. This year, organisers are offering a varied programme on five stages. Around 100 firms have been chosen to compete in a start-up contest. Start-ups can also apply for a demonstration stand. When purchasing tickets, start-ups and investors name firms in which they are interested thereby increasing the chances of success. Crown Prince Haakon Magnus of Norway is expected to attend this year’s conference. Around 300 founders, investors and speakers from Silicon Valley including Steve Jurvetson, a member of Tesla’s board of directors, SpaceX and Caterina Fake, co-founder of Flickr & Hunch are also flying to Helsinki.
Slush in Peking, Tokyo, Shanghai and Singapore
Martin Brücher, co-founder of Fashion Cloud, noted: “Slush has become Europe’s most important start-up event alongside the Websummit.” Brücher is seeking contact to potential investors for the next round of financing. The conference has grown rapidly in recent years and Slush has already been held several times in Scandinavia. This year, over 1,700 start-ups, 800 potential investors and 630 media representatives are expected. The conference has been held Beijing, Tokyo, Shanghai and Singapore since 2015.
