“Großstadtrevier”, which roughly translates to “Big City Police Station” is a German television series, broadcasted on Germany’s Das Erste of the ARD. First aired in 16 December 1986, the show is one of the most popular television series in Germany and achieved cult status. It follows the everyday work of a fictional police station on the Kiez of Hamburg.The 29th season of the early evening classic will be shown on 30 November.

In the 16 new episodes, the staff of the police station located at St Pauli’s notorious Reeperbahn will once again have to deal with burglary, forgery, gangs, and drug lords. The series, which stars Jan Fedder as the down-to-earth Police Chief Inspector Dirk Mattes of the 14th district, has been honoured with the Green Shooting Card initiated by Film Commission Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein in 2013 in recognition of efforts to reduce the environmental impact of shooting. Ten years ago, “Großstadtrevier” won the Golden Camera award. Today, “Großstadtrevier” is produced by the Letterbox Filmproduktion on behalf of NDR and ARD-Werbung.
