Small music companies in Hamburg now have until April 17, 2018 to apply for grants of EUR 3,000 to EUR 10,000 provided by the Ministry of Culture and Media, a press release said Tuesday (March 6, 2018). A second round of applications will be accepted from August 16 to September 27, 2018. Over 200 different music genres including newcomers and established musicians have received funding since 2010.
Expert panel selects recipients
Dr. Carsten Brosda, Senator for Culture and Media, said: “The work with unknown artists is a breeding ground for musical diversity in the music city of Hamburg. Funding from the Ministry of Culture and Media aims to support the committed and continuous work of music labels by relieving them of part of the financial risk.” The funds will benefit small companies irrespective of their name recognition. An expert panel will advise the ministry on how to allocate the funds.
