Five digital business start-ups have until August 7, 2017 to apply to the nextMedia.Hamburg initiative to take part in the Web Summit in Lisbon from November 6-9, 2017. The successful Hamburg-based start-ups will receive grants of EUR 1,200 towards travel expenses and support with matchmaking.
DailyDress looks back on positive experience
This year’s summit includes 24 sub conferences with some 60,000 delegates expected. The programme focuses on design, content, health and gaming. The founders of the DailyDress start-up Jennifer Schäfer and Laura Karim took part in the 2016 Web Summit: “We were delighted with the conference. The whole start-up atmosphere, the many people we met and the exchange with others was extremely helpful and exciting.” However, it’s important to make appointments with people beforehand, said Schäfer.
Foodguide, Sponsoo, appinio and Shelfsailor
The side events were also great, Schäfer added: “I would definitely recommend the ‘Web Summit’ to start-ups in the same stage of development as us.” Last year, Malte Steiert, co-founder of Foodguide held talks with many investors in the special “Investors’ Lounge” and attended several, enjoyable keynote speeches. The Hamburg-based start-ups Sponsoo, appinio and Shelfsailor also received grants from nextMedia.Hamburg allowing them to attend the summit in 2016.
