The Finalists of Hamburg's Reeperbahn Festival

Five startups to pitch at Reeperbahn Festival's Startups @ Reeperbahn on 23 September 2015 and to present their business ideas in front of more than 60 investors and trade visitors

The five finalists for the startup pitch at Hamburg’s Reeperbahn Festival have been chosen. Last Friday, the Hamburg startups initiative announced the winners: Antelope, a distributor of smart sportswear from Frankfurt, Figo from Hamburg, a Fintech services provider; Funzi from Finland with its learning app for developing countries; MedLango from Berlin with a platform for medical translations; and Skybus from Hamburg, a communication tool for machines and industrial applications. The winners of the competition will be rewarded with the Spiegel Online Media Award endowed with 100,000 euro.

Festival of Creative Industries

In its tenth year, Germany’s biggest club festival will once again be presenting exciting discoveries from the fields of indie, pop, rock, folk, singer-songwriter, electro, hip hop, rap, soul, jazz, and contemporary. In addition to more than 400 concerts, art programme, and lectures listed in the public programme, also numerous conferences and other industry events will be taking place for the music and digital economy. At its tenth anniversary, the festival will focus on Finland, with new talents being showcased and networking events being held. Since 2013, the “StartUp @ Reeperbahn” has been promoting creative talents. In addition to the prize money, winners will be supporting in launching their business by the festival’s international media attention and coverage. In 2015, 110 startups from nine countries, including Switzerland, Austria, England, Greece, Finland, Sweden, Spain, and Canada, submitted their application.

The Finalists from Hamburg

Two finalists are at home in Hamburg. The Hamburg startup Skybus will be promoting a toolkit for the implementation of “Industry 4.0” projects. By providing a lightweight and extremely extensible software stack as well as industry bus connectors and SDKs for various software environments, Skybus makes it easier than ever to set up an industrial network without risky changes to working systems.

The founders of Figo are offering a backbone for next generation banking, making mobile banking via smart phones fast and secure. Figo is connected to almost all German banks.
