Following a Europe-wide negotiation procedure with preliminary qualification competition, the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf contracted Züblin AG as general contractor for the construction of the new children’s clinic.
Completion By Summer 2017
“The general contractor will no be able to start construction of our new children’s hospital on time. As planned, Züblin AG will implement all our specifications. (...) By the summer of 2017, Züblin promised to hand to us the key of the most modern children’s hospital in the north. A clinic that will serve as a benchmark for interdisciplinary pediatric medicine, will thus start operations on time”, said Rainer Schoppik, Commercial Director of UKE.

“With the construction of the new children’s hospital, we once again confirm our expertise in the medical sector. On the grounds of UKE, we have already built a centre for specialist doctors, and the “spectrum” health care centre. We now look forward to realizing a unique children’s hospital as partner of the UKE”, said Jörg Schröder, Technical Director, Züblin AG.
UKE Asks For Donations To Finance The Construction
The new clinic will have a floor space of 10,449 square meters and offer facilities for the treatment of 138 in-patient and 14 day patients. Total construction cost are estimated at 70 million euro. ,The Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg will cover 20 million euro. Around 20 million euro will be have to be collected by donations.
