For one and a half year, the northern German cluster Life Science Nord has been progressively intensifying a dialogue with the Kobe Biomedical Innovation Cluster. Together, the two clusters have successfully applied for a project financed by the Japanese External Trade Organization JETRO exchange programme called “Regional Industry Tie-up” (RIT). The programme promotes exchanges between Japanese and German companies, by covering, for example, travel and accommodation cost.
Through consultancy and financial aids, the three-year programme provides for life science companies from northern Germany an ideal opportunity to find potential partners in Japan, for example, for market entry or for research collaborations. The companies funded are determined by a competitive process.
Life Science Nord to travel to Kobe and Osaka to attend “Medical Japan”
Following a visit to a high-level Japanese delegation from Kobe, which visited Hamburg in late September 2015 to explore opportunities for transnational co-operation between the two cluster regions, the clusters are now preparing the next round. On 20 November 2015, an even larger delegation from Kobe will be coming to Hamburg to attend a business matchmaking with northern German firms. Also, a return visit has been scheduled for 2016. From 21-25 February, a delegation of Life Science Nord will be traveling to Kobe and Osaka ion the occasion of the medical fair “Medical Japan”.
