REISEN 2015: The Fascination Of Cruising

Largest holiday show of the north reflects the booming interest in cruising. E-bikes also hot topics

“Setting sail!” is the slogan for this year’s spotlight on cruise dreams at REISEN Hamburg 2015, according to HMC the largest holiday, caravanning, outdoor and cycling exhibition of the German North. Opening its doors on Wednesday, 4 February 2015, more than 900 exhibitors will be presenting their latest ideas and programmes for the next holiday, and also bikes, camper vans, caravans and equipment, until 8 February 2015.

Cruise Dreams

“We are taking up the tremendous wave of interest in cruising – exploring the seas and the major rivers. The slogan highlights what our exhibitors are offering at the fair,” says Bernd Aufderheide, President and CEO Hamburg Messe und Congress. “Hamburg is a popular cruise port, making it the ideal venue for that.” Next to cruises, visitors will find eight exhibition halls packed with travel ideas for familiar and exotic destinations in Germany and the whole of the world.

Insights Into Tourism Trends

Insights into leisure activities of the Germans will be given by the Foundation for Future Studies, an initiative of British American Tobacco (BAT) – Prof. Dr. Ulrich Reinhardt, Scientific Head of the Foundation, will present the findings of the 31st “German Tourism Analysis” at REISEN HAMBURG, on the first day of the fair. Likewise on the first day, the German Automobile Club ADAC will grant the Tourism Awards for Hamburg and Mecklenburg-West Pomerania and thus honour innovative ideas and projects for tourism in these two German states.

Activity Areas & Theme Worlds

Thematic areas are planned on subjects such as “Fairy Tale Holidays”, and exotic speciality trips. There will also be a thematic area on adventure and outdoor holidays. Nearby, visitors will also find a Walking Village, with lots of ideas for active people who enjoy walking in unspoilt landscapes during their holidays and leisure time. The Danish Tourism Board will also take up this concept, with a stand designed as an activity area to give visitors a real impression of Scandinavian lifestyle.

Dedicated Hall For Bikes

Another innovation at REISEN HAMBURG 2015 will be the dedicated hall for e-bikes and bicycles. In hall B1, a true cyclist’s heaven, latest models from leading brands, equipment, cycle tours and holidays will be featured. A test track will be provided for visitors to try out which electric bike best meets their needs. At a cycling platform, experts will be giving useful hints on everyday aspects and leisure activities on two wheels, and six long-distance bikers will report on their adventures in the course of their amazing cycling trips.
