The CCH’s Showroom was officially opened Wednesday by Frank Horch, Senator for Economics as part of a preview of the completed refurbishments. Event organisers can glimpse the new showroom on June 1. The Congress Center Hamburg (CCH) has been under renovation and expansion work since January 2017. The new CCH Showroom in Hall A provides a fascinating preview of the new CCH, offering digital visualizations, sample furnishings and much more. Edgar Hirt, Senior Vice President Congresses and Events at Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH, said: “We have created the new CCH Showroom in response to the wishes expressed by numerous event organizers to have a realistic idea of the possible uses offered by the new CCH at an early time.” In the past, customers had to be taken on a physical tour of the building construction site. He added: “That disrupted the ongoing construction work, required visitors to wear personal protection equipment and exposed them to noise and dust. The innovative CCH Showroom in Hall A is thus a perfect solution.”
Interactive showroom with “Holographic Pyramid”
The highlight of the new showroom is the “Holographic Pyramid”, a virtual architectural model seemingly floating in space. Interested event organizers will be able to see representations of a broad variety of room and space configurations in the new CCH. The show will also feature CCH’s various interior design elements – from building and decoration materials to future furnishings. Customers can take a virtual tour of the modernized congress centre on a large, interactive flat screen – 360-degree images and various videos will deliver vivid impressions of the new CCH.
From 2019, the refurbished CCH will offer new dimensions for future event formats. It merges a successful 40-year history with future requirements. Hamburg will soon boast a top, international convention centre with 12,000 square metres of foyer space and 12,000 seats in up to 50 halls putting the CCH among Europe’s largest convention centres.
