The Manhattan String Quartet, which critics have hailed as one of the leading U.S. ensembles, is visiting the Hanseatic city with its “Brahms in Hamburg Conference” and is lifting the mood in the meetings and congress destination with classical music of the highest quality. From January 10-17, 2016 and from January 17 to 24, 2016, the Manhattan String Quartet will offer 142, mostly U.S. guests, coaching, lectures, concerts and excursions on a daily basis.
“The meetings and congress destination Hamburg has many strong points apart from the most obvious ones such as logistics and aviation. An event like the Brahms Conference shows that Hamburg is also in great demand as a cultural location,” said Thorsten Kausch, Managing Director of Hamburg Convention Bureau GmbH and Hamburg Marketing GmbH. The Reeperbahn Festival and the Reeperbahn Festival Conference have for years been flagships of Hamburg as a venue for meetings and congresses.
Hamburg’s many faces
Guests at the Brahms Conference have many interesting points on the agenda. Apart from lectures, coaching and concerts, visits can also be paid to the Brahms Archive at Hamburg University, the Brahms Museum in the KomponistenQuartier and outings can be undertaken to the Brahms Institute in Lübeck. Other highlights will focus on the many faces of Hamburg with visits to the Miniatur Wunderland, a private tour of the Hamburger Kunsthalle as well as guided factory tours of Airbus and Steinway.
