Internorga 2017 accepting applications for culinary start-up contest

Tim Mälzer on jury. Win in 2016 proved "huge launching-pad"

Internorga 2017 is now accepting applications for the “Gastronomy Start-up Contest” targeting companies that went into business before September 1, 2015 and those who seek to launch in the sector. Applicants have until December 31, 2016 to enter the contest. The winner receives a cash prize of EUR 10,000 and advice from the Leaders Club – an association of leading gourmets. The celebrity TV chef, Tim Mälzer, is on next year’s jury.

Five-minute live presentations at Internorga

Daniel Nawenstein of La Cevicheria, this year’s winning restaurant, said: “The gastronomy start-up contest was a huge launching-pad for us.” The Frankfurt-based restaurant specialising in Peruvian cuisine was fully booked even before it opened. According to Mälzer, the contest is a “perfect platform for young gourmets” and he would not miss the chance offered in 2017. A shortlist of nine applicants will be drawn up and presented to Mälzer and the Leaders Club in Hamburg on February 9, 2017. Six finalists will have five minutes to pitch their concepts live at Internorga on March 17, 2017.

Professional audience

The professional audience at the fair selects the winner, who secures EUR 10,000 in prize money and expert advice on implementing an idea or on how to further develop the existing business. Applicants have until December 31, 2016 to post their documents to the Leaders Club Deutschland AG or to email them to info@leadersclub.de
