Hamburg is to host the Velo Bicycle Festival under the theme “More bicycles for Hamburg” from May 13-14, 2017 in St Pauli’s Rindermarkthalle for the first time. The festival has already been held in Berlin and Frankfurt am Main. Exhibitors will be offering bicycles, travel, hands-on activities and visitors can test the bicycles. Ulrike Saade, Manager of the Velo concept, said: “We are delighted to be holding the Velo festival across the Elbe city. After all, the people of Hamburg are enthusiastic cyclists.”
Bicycles as transport of the future
The Velo concept has been promoting bikes across commerce in Germany since 2000. Bicycles are seen as transport of the future – environment-friendly and an alternative to cars especially in big cities. The Velo concept is a partner and advisor to industry, trade, politics and cyclists.
Test runs and courses for children
The site at Millerntor Stadium will be divided into four parts called “Testival”, “E-bike”, “Urban” and “Adventure” for the event. Visitors can test bikes, go on test rides or buy bikes ranging from fast city bikes and parts and view everything to do with mobility and digitalisation. Guided tours will also be offered. Experts will advise on e-bikes, smart cycling as well as family cycling. Special courses will be available for young and old to test the bikes.
