Hamburg Copenhagen Business Forum 2014 strengthens bilateral ties

Jointly organised by the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce and the German Danish Chamber of Commerce, the first “Hamburg Copenhagen Business Forum” successfully strengthened the bilateral ties between the metro regions of Hamburg and Copenhagen.

The event was initiated by Drees & Sommer in collaboration with the chambers of commerce in both cities and the Zentraler Immobilienausschuss (ZIA) for the North region. The first part of the forum included introductory talks about the metropolitan regions of Hamburg and Copenhagen ,followed by a discussion between the mayors of the two cities, Olaf Scholz and Frank Jensen and the participants. Focal themes of the keynotes and panel discussions were green growth, healthcare & life sciences and the attraction of global talents. Furthermore, the potential of joint activities between both cities was discussed. Also, forum on real estate-related topics concerning the metropolitan regions of Hamburg and Copenhagen organised by the Economic Development Council of the Metropolitan Region of Hamburg and the German Property Federation was held parallel to the talks.

Two partners, one region

With the inauguration of the fixed Fehmarnbelt link in 2021, two strong cities – Hamburg and Copenhagen – will form one competitive region, connecting Scandinavia to central Europe. Already today, the tunnel project stimulates the region, with infrastructure projects launched, new companies founded and many enterprises relocating or adjusting their business.
