Hamburg congress on extreme weather to start today

For the first time with training event of its own. "Weather. Water. Waterfront" with 2,500 students from all over Germany

Today, the 9th Extreme Weather Congress will start in Hamburg, with scientists and experts discussing the impact of climate change and the hazards of severe and extreme weather conditions. With more than 500 participants meeting at HafenCity, the Hamburg convention is the largest European congress on severe weather. A novelty of this year’s week-long programme is the “Weather. Water.Waterfront” module for young participants, attended by more than 2,500 pupils. The extreme weather conference is accompanied by a public and free photo exhibition at HafenCity’s Überseequartier and another free exhibition at the HafenCity University showcasing the work of scientists and, for example, the German Weather Service.
