Following the modernisation of its conference facilities, the five star hotel “Le Méridien” officially opened its new Heritage restaurant at the ninth floor. Starting service at 6 p.m., guests with be able to enjoy French inspired cuisine with an Asian twist, or fresh oysters, served by chef-de-cuisine Matthias Cantauw with lemon and chives bread, or lime and chili.
For lovers of dry aged beef, steak specialties are prepared in a Southbend furnace, where selected pieces of meat from cattle at home northern Germany, Australia, and America will be at extremely high temperatures of 800 degrees Celsius, until they are as soft as melting butter. Pure pleasures are also the 21 cheeses from Maître Affineur Volker Waltmann, the tempting desserts, and the fine wines from France, as well as young winemakers from Europe and overseas. A la carte orders are gladly accepted until 23:00 p.m. The 40 seats bar stays open until 1:00 a.m.
Panoramic Alster View
The Heritage restaurant is designed for 120 guests and accessible via a separate panoramic elevator. A unique feature of its novel design is the photographic art by Sacha Goldberger, who staged comic book heroes like Superman makes in the style of the 17th century, wearing a traditional Hanseatic collar called “Duttenkragen”. But an even greater eye-catcher is certainly the floor to ceiling window, offering unobstructed view of the Alster lake. In addition to the restaurant and bar, the Heritage also offers a glassed Wine Tasting Room. For private dining, cooking classes and events, the restaurant also integrated its own “Chef’s Table” .
