Organisers of COTECA coffee fair satisfied

Some 200 exhibitors from 40 nations presented their products in Hamburg. Focus on trends and innovations

The COTECA Coffee, Tea and Cocoa Global Industry Expo ended Friday at the Congress Center Hamburg (CCH) with organisers saying the collaboration between COTECA Coffee, Tea and Cocoa Global Industry Expo the Kaffee Campus of the German Roasters Guild was an absolute success. Around 200 exhibitors from some 40 nations presented their products and innovations in coffee, tea and cocoa from September 7-9, 2016.

Focus on networking

Around 3,600 trade visitors came to the fair in Hamburg where they attended talks by keynote speakers and workshops. Trade visitors focused mainly on making new contacts (62 per cent), cultivating existing contacts (46 per cent) and networking with their colleagues (46 per cent). The share of decision-makers among the visitors came to 91 per cent and remained at the equally high level of 2014.

COTECA – fair for decision-makers

This year’s focus was on coffee imports and exports, the tea trade, the packaging industry, coffee roasters, espresso and coffee machines and accessories. The COTECA is increasingly becoming a special source of information on tea and coffee-growing countries and the varieties specific to each region. A special highlight was the “Wall of Coffee”, where visitors could learn about 170 coffees from vast range of countries, and also taste them as well.

Japan presented an impressive programme on all aspects of green tea. Workshops and presentations were held to demonstrate the traditional techniques of drying and rolling, and various tea ceremonies.
