Baby massages for fathers, midwifery unit, and shop: the clever business idea of the Hamburg start-up Kleinerdrei

Five young founders offer a one-stop-service for parents.

Hamburg is a media city, a commercial hub, and a hothouse for founders. Here, ideas become passions, and very often promising business concepts. As with “Kleinerdrei”. Five founders, enthusiastic about children, wanted to create a one-stop-place for children and parents, which, at least in their opinion, was still missing in Hamburg, offering everything for youngsters under the age of three and their parents, i. e. a midwifery centre, rooms for classes, and a shop for children with as fair trade products.

A pregnancy means change

With a pregnancy, everything will be different, new – and somewhat confusing, says Valentin Heyde. The psychologist and communications consultant has already been accompanying several startups. Always looking for new promising projects, he immediately became interested when he heard about the “Schanzenhebammen” midwives Susanne Toth and Larissa Büter. Since 2006, the two women had jointly operated a midwifery centry in Hamburg’s trendy Schanze borough. When moving to a new location, also a new concept was introduced.
Its three pillars are obstetrics, courses for parents and young children, and a shop with sustainable products. There, you won’t find plastic baby feeding bottles – but, for example, a noise protection plugs in fun colors. No, not for the parents. For the kids.
