On 1,000 sq m at Speersort, Asics will showcase its entire product range, i.e. sportswear, footwear mainly intended for running and tennis, and accessories. In order to strengthen customer loyalty and attract new customers, a wide range of services will complement the range. For instance, customers are to be able to analyse their own sporting achievements in Asics run laboratory. Also being planned is a regular running club. The company thus stays true to its name, which actually is an acronym composed of the Latin “Anima Sana In Corpore Sano” – “A healthy mind in a healthy body”.
Sponsor of the marathon
Asics confirmed its Hamburg commitment as one of the Haspa Hamburg Marathon’s main sponsors and exhibitors of the accompanying trade fair Marathon Hamburg im Mai. Around 2,813 marathon runners, and thus more than ever before, took the opportunity to have Asics Running experts Manuel Fernandez custom-tailor a Race-Your-Pace bracelet for them that indicated the optimal running time for their marathon matching the desired target time. Asics also equipped the 2,400 helpers of the organizing team of the marathon weekend.
Double digit growth in Europe
The company from Kobe enjoyed the strongest growth in Europe, where sales climbed by 36.4 per cent to 481 million euro in the financial year 2013. Germany, Scandinavia, France, Austria, Poland, and Russia with a double-digit growth in each of the countries. When looking at product divisions, running reported the strongest growth with a plus of 24 per cent, followed by tennis. In addition, Asics increasingly attracts female customers. Total sales climbed by 25.7 per cent to 2.3 bn euro in the fiscal year 2013, which ended on 31 March 2014.
