World's Largest Container Ship Arrived In The Port Of Hamburg

CSCL Globe to moor in Hamburg for two days. 400 metres long vessels boats an unparalleled capacity of 19,100 containers

The vessel arrived in the early morning of 13 January 2015. With the capacity of 19,000 TEU, the CSCL Globe can carry 800 more containers than the former number one, Maerk’s Tripe E class. more TEU than the Maersk Triple E class. Pioneering Green Shipping

CSCL Globe is not only a pioneer in regard to length and capacity, but also in regard to eco-friendliness CSCL Globe’s 77,200 bhp (56,800 kW) electronically-controlled main engine automatically adjusts fuel consumption based on the ship’s speed and sea conditions, and thus allows the ship to burn 20 per cent less fuel per TEU than freighters in the class of 10,000 TEU. CO2 emissions are 30,000 tonnes less in regard to the cargo carried in comparison with smaller freighters. j

China Shipping: At Home In Hamburg Since 1997

China Shipping opened its Hamburg branch in 1997. From its HafenCity headquarters at Sandtorkai, China Shipping Agency (Germany) GmbH is steering its global liner services with around 100 employees- Activities cover the entire logistics process from house to house, with China Shipping being able to benefit from the services from other affiliates in various fields.

EUROGATE: Well Prepared For Container Giants

The vessel will moor at the EUROGATE Container Terminal Hamburg, which will be expanded by 38 hectares of terminal area and 1,059 quay wall in the direction of Elbe/Bubendey-Ufer by 2019. In addition, the existing turning circle is to be increased from 480 m to 600 m. As a consequence of the so-called “westward expansion”, the handling capacity will increase from today’s 4.1 million TEU to 6 million TEU in total.
