Digitalisation is spreading to nearly all parts of our lives and the accompanying processes are likely to top the agenda of many conferences, festivals and summits in Hamburg this year.
1. IT Strategy Days: “It’s all about speed”
Events continue from February 16-17, 2017 with the 15th IT Strategy Days. Then, some 750 Chief Information Officers (CIOs) and IT experts will meet in the Hotel Grand Elysée to discuss strategies, skills and approaches to management under the theme “It’s all about speed – Strategies for Digital Transformation”. The event is being organised by the Business-Netzwerk Hamburg@work, Faktor 3 Live, a subsidiary of Faktor 3 GmbH agency and the CIO business magazine.
2. Social Media Week 2017 – “Language and the Machine”
The Social Media Week has already made waves in New York, Jakarta and Mexico City and will be held in Hamburg from February 27-March 3, 2013 under the motto “Language and the Machine”: Algorithms and the Future of Communication”. Delegates can expect exciting keynotes and workshops and this year, visitors just have to register once rather than for separate events.
3. Online Marketing Rockstars attract some 25,000 visitors
The Online Marketing Rockstars (OMR) digital event is likely to attract some 25,000 visitors from March 2-3, 2017. The mix of conference and exhibitions with around 200 exhibitors and over 50 master classes, panel discussions and guided tours will be complemented by musical highlights.
4. leading advertisers, agencies, publishers meet at d3con
A fortnight later, delegates at the d3con will focus on programmatic advertising. More than 1,500 delegates, leading advertisers, agencies, publishers and service providers are expected at Cinemax, the venue of d3con, on March 14th. A day earlier, the D3con University in Beach Hamburg will target those who wish to gain in-depth knowledge of programmatic advertising.
5. newTV Kongress: content marketing and virtual reality
National and international experts are set to discuss changes in the moving image sector during the upcoming newTV Kongress on March 21, 2017 in the Chamber of Commerce Hamburg. The sector is facing many upheavals that are likely to impact programmatic TV, content marketing, 360-degree/virtual reality and mark the end of DVB-T this year. The congress targets decision-makers, marketing and advertising experts as well as producers in TV and digital industries.
6. Practical workshops at Digital Commerce Day
Then on March 23, the Digital Commerce Day will be held under the motto “What’s the alternative? – Ways out of the Digitalisaton Trap”. More than 20 keynote speakers including Alexander Rohwer, Head of Strategy & Analysis at OTTO, and Stefan Wenzel, Vice President eBay Deutschland, will focus on the content of online markets. Practical workshops on March 24, will centre on Amazon, personalisation, brand building, internationalisation and fashion commerce.
7. solutions.hamburg: fach.konferenz & experten.werkstatt
From September 6-8, 2017, interactive sessions, workshops and lectures at solution.hamburg will focus on issues making waves in the digital sector. Several keynotes will be held during the fach.konferenz while the experten.werkstatt will host special sessions especially for senior developers and IT architects. The solutions.hamburg will conclude with the silpion.sommerfest which attracted around 4,000 guests last year. Bars, live music, DJs and a large buffet in the Kampnagel grounds are likely to attract record visitor numbers again this year.
8. NEXT digital conference in cooperation with 9. Reeperbahn Festival
The NEXT digital conference has attracted over 10,000 visitors from 40 countries in recent years and is Germany’s leading digital conference. The third edition of the conference from September 21-23, 2017 will be held in co-operation with the Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg from September 20-23, 2017 in various venues. The programme has over 230 sessions, networking events and award shows and has attracted 32,000 visitors in previous years.
10. Data Journalism & New Storytelling at Scoopcamp
Since 2009, Hamburg@work, nextMedia.Hamburg (since 2014 ), dpa Deutsche Presse-Agentur GmbH and over 250 experts, decision-makers and mover and shakers in the IT and media sector have hosted the Scoopcamp in Hamburg. Then the focus turns to issues such as data journalism, social media and new storytelling. The exact date of this year’s event has yet to be announced, but is likely to be in autumn.
