From 27 February to 8 March, the exhibition “Women Who Push Aviation” will be given an insight into the professional careers of women in aviation, in innovative projects and networks, as well as in the aviation industry. Displayed in the hallway of Hamburg’s city hall, the exhibition was organised by the Hamburg Aviation cluster with support of its three heavy-weight members Airbus, Lufthansa Technik, and Hamburg Airport also displayed on one of the panels.
Access To A (Still) Predominately Male Industry
Three panels show female careers in Hamburg’s aviation industry. The testimonials tell about a young lady’s first steps when starting vocational training, allow insights into an average working day, and present stories from everyday life in or on their way into the industry. In addition, some projects and networks are presented that prepare tech-savvy girls prepare for studies or trainings in aerospace.
With more than 40,000 skilled workers and professionals, Hamburg is one of the largest civil aviation hubs in the world. In addition to the three major companies Airbus, Lufthansa Technik and Hamburg Airport, more than 300 suppliers, universities, government agencies and public authorities are networking as members in the Hamburg Aviation cluster. To develop quality products and services for the aerospace industry, and to increase networking on all levels and beyond state and industry borders are key objectives of the cluster.
