Tomorrow’s aircraft cabins on show at Aircraft Interiors Expo

530 exhibitors, 10,000 professional visitors. Crystal Cabin "Oscar" Award celebrating 10th anniversary

Touchscreen monitors like televisions, lighting concepts that minimise jetlag and an app that allows passengers to follow the flight’s progress on their own mobile devices – these are just some of the trends in civil aviation that will take centre stage at the Aircraft Interiors Expo from April 5-7, 2016 in Hamburg. The sector’s Crystal Cabin “Oscar” Award is celebrating it’s 10th anniversary this year and will be presented at a gala in Hotel Kempinski.

World Travel Catering & Onboard Services Expo

The 15th edition of the Aircraft Interiors Expo is being held at Hamburg’s Messehallen this year. Some 530 exhibitors from 30 nations are expecting over 10,000 professional visitors. Three of seven exhibition halls will highlight on-board entertainment and connectivity which are experiencing the strongest growth. The associated World Travel Catering & Onboard Services Expo is being held in parallel on the grounds of the trade fair where the focus will be on catering and on-board accessories.

Airbus und Lufthansa Technik on hand

Several exhibitors at the Aircraft Interiors Expo are already based in Hamburg and the metropolitan region is the world’s largest competency centre in aircraft cabins. Airbus, based in Finkenwerder, will be one of the biggest exhibitors at the trade fair. Another major player, Lufthansa Technik, is presenting new entertainment products, seating concepts or innovations for galleys such as an inductive cooking platform. The Hanse Pavillion of Hamburg’s supplier association, Hanse-Aerospace, will be the biggest stand where over 70 firms mostly SMEs will display their products and services. Hamburg Aviation, along with the new ZAL Center of Applied Aeronautical Research, formally opened on March 7, will also be among the exhibitors there.

Crystal Cabin Award celebrating 10th anniversary

The highlight of this year’s trade show will be the Crystal Cabin Award launched by Hamburg Aviation and which is celebrating its 10th anniversary. The winners in eight categories have been announced during the Aircraft Interiors Expo trade fair at a gala ceremony on April 5, 2016 in Hamburg’s Hotel Atlantic Kempinski.
