British Airways Franchise carrier SUN-AIR from Denmark is launching a new London City – Hamburg route on 27 October 2014, with two daily service on weekdays on board a Dornier 328 with 32 seats and full meals on board.

„Our strategy is to offer direct routes in co-operation with business and that’s the strategy we follow with the opening of the route from Hamburg to London City,” Sun-Air CEO Niels Sundberg said. “We are very pleased to collaborate with industry and have already been experiencing great interest and support from both the German and British businessmen.” Michael Eggenschwiler, CEO at Hamburg Airport: “With this connection, we are expanding our portfolio of flights from Hamburg to London. The route to London City is especially interesting for business travelers, as the business district of London, and the downtown area of the Thames city can be reached quickly and easily. “London City Airport is the closest airport to the city centre of the British capital. Using London underground, passenger are able to reach the City of London within 15 minutes.
The Hamburg-London City route will be its first scheduled service outside its Scandinavian home market with the exception of a corporate shuttle service between Augsburg and Marseilles SUN-AIR operates on behalf of EADS. SUN-AIR has already been successfully operating its services to Billund. Under the franchise agreement with British Airways all flights will be sold under BA flight numbers and will complement the global carriers network at Heathrow.
