A watery salute, courtesy of the Airport Fire Brigade, marked the beginning of the official welcome for Ryanair at Hamburg Airport. For the start of the winter timetable period, the Irish low-cost carrier has begun operations from Hamburg to two destinations, with daily flights to Lisbon, and three flights per week to Portugal’s second city, Porto.
“The choice of low-cost offerings at Hamburg has grown even further with Ryanair’s presence,” says Dr Joergen Kearsley, Head of Aviation Marketing at Hamburg Airport. “We are especially delighted to add Porto to our timetable – an attractive and popular destination that was not served directly from Hamburg until now.”
easyJet also intensifying Hamburg operations
easyJet is also expanding its base in Hamburg, with six weekly flights to Amsterdam starting from 3 November, as well as new services to Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, Geneva, Krakow, and Salzburg. The airline has operated a fixed base at Hamburg Airport since March 2014, expanding its Hamburg route network from six to currently 19 destinations. And a third machine is now being stationed in Hamburg too, to serve the new destinations.
