Lufthansa Technik secures order for Boeing 787 VIP cabin

Unnamed client behind VIP order - project to start in 2018

Lufthansa Technik has secured an order from an unnamed customer to finish a VIP cabin for a Boeing 787-8, a press release said Sunday (November 12, 2017) . The contract marks the first completion of an aircraft of this kind type for Lufthansa Technik. The project is due to start in 2018. The Boeing 787-8 seats 210 to 250 passengers and is the most frequently ordered model.

Elegant VIP design

The aircraft will have an elegant VIP design tailored to meet the customer’s specific requirements. The private section includes an office area, a bathroom and a bedroom. The following section combines a dining and conference area. Delegation seating in different classes will be integrated into the rear section of the aircraft.

Lufthansa Technik’s expertise

Commenting on the order, Wieland Timm, Senior Director Sales, VIP & Special Mission Aircraft at Lufthansa Technik, said: “With the conclusion of this completion contract, we are closing the final gap in our expertise for the Boeing 787. Our existing experience for this type of aircraft in the fields of modification, maintenance, repair and overhaul is a valuable basis for the equipment of this special VIP aircraft.”

Lufthansa Technik has provided technical services to more than 100 Boeing 787 from various commercial and VIP 787 operators so far. The portfolio also includes engineering services and spare parts supply.
