Hamburg Airport Welcomes Passengers In the Olympic Spirit

Pictures mounted with motifs of the Olympics to show Hamburg's enthusiasm of the games to the work and support the city's Olympic bid

As part of Hamburg’s application to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2024, Hamburg Airport has placed oversized photo walls with sports motifs. Olympic enthusiasts, passengers, visitors, and employees can pose in front of the photo wall and pretend to be a Beach Volley playeral or a rhythmic gymnast. Under the hashtag # Hamburg2024, they can then share their selfies and snapshots in the social networks with their friends and acquaintances.

“Hamburg’s bid to host the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games is a unique opportunity for the city and its airport. Hamburg Airport thus presents itself as 'Gate to the Games’ and supports this great visionl with a lot of commitment”, said Michael Eggenschwiler, CEO Hamburg Airport. The kick-pff event was supported by the two former beach volleyball players from Hamburg. Stephanie Pohl and David Klemperer successfully represented Germany at previous Olympic Games. After the security checks, passengers can step up to the winners’ podium and have their photo take as a successful Olympic athlete. The airport also features several stairs and columns decorated with Olympic motifs in the terminals one and two.
