Germania airlines celebrated Friday its first flight from Hamburg Airport to Almeria in Spain. Hamburg Airport had suspended the destination from its network in 2004. Dr. Jörgen Kearsley, Head of Aviation Marketing at Hamburg Airport, said: “Almeria is another new destination in our network. Spain is enjoying growing popularity among German and European tourists as a holiday destination. Germania’s new connection caters to travellers’ needs. Our passengers now have a greater choice of holiday destinations in southern Europe.”
Holidaying in Andalusia
Almeria is a popular port in Andalusia between Malaga and Alicante on the Mediterranean coast. Almeria is the starting point for beach holidays in southern Spain. Culture fans will also find plenty of attractions in the historic city centre. Germania will fly to Almeria every Friday from May 2017 to late October 2017 initially.
14 new destinations in summer schedule
Around 60 airlines fly to 130 destinations from Hamburg Airport. “Whether for city trips, beach holidays or visiting families – demand for flights is high in Hamburg and the metropolitan region,” said Michael Eggenschwiler, CEO of Hamburg Airport. A total of 14 new destinations have been added to the summer schedule from Hamburg in 2017.
